What makes RCS Different

RCS Treatment Guidelines
As you know the California State Legislature may possibly adopt the medicare/medi-cal fee schedule for worker's compensation. Implementation of a comprehensive fee schedule will lead to cost savings, but without accompanying effective medical utilization controls, such savings will be ineffective. With this in mind, RCS developed nationally evidence-based physical therapy guidelines (references attached) which assist our Care Coordinator in monitoring the patient's progress. These evidence-based guidelines assist the adjuster/nurse case manager and primary treating physician with the standards for treating the worker's compensation patient. With evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, disputes over treatments will be reduced and the injured worker will have the advantage of receiving the best scientifically proven treatments.

Referral Process
There are no phone trees to go through, just dial (866) 562-0727 and you will reach our Care Coordinator. RCS delivers prompt attention to all patients and does so by giving all parties direct access to our Staff. Once our Care Coordinator obtains all necessary information and authorization we schedule our patients immediately as well as fax this information to all parties.
-
Client Profile
With each of our Clients we create a profile which contains all pertinent work comp information as well as specific requests in managing their injured worker. In order to assure that the most accurate up-to-date information is being given we refer to these profiles. In addition, RCS is also available to provide a copy, as directed by the client, to the various parties who interface with the client's injured workers, again ensuring that all parties have correct up-to-date information and can act in a timely manner.

Forms
Attached you will find samples of both forms and the software used by RCS. Below is a brief description of each form and its use.
- Referral Form: Once a patient is referred to RCS we enter their information on the referral form. The information in this form also provides RCS with the data used in reporting to the employer and adjuster. In addition, the "optional note" section will document all information regarding this referral, providing a dictated history meeting medical chart guidelines. This form is faxed to both physician and adjuster upon completion.
- Fax Coversheet
- Client Referral Report: Attached is an actual copy of a report. RCS is able to provide these reports as needed. If there is additional information needed we can also discuss those needs to build a report that will assist you in managing physical therapy referrals.
- Patient Data Insurance Verification Sheet: As you can see RCS gathers all pertinent data to ensure proper care and communication to and for all parties.
- Case Management: Information entered into our Patient Data Insurance window provides the basis for the patient file. Once we know the patient's physical therapy needs we then set the "Tickler Form" with appropriate time frames that will flag our Care Coordinator to seek appropriate action as required by our internal guidelines. As these flags appear the Care Coordinator acts accordingly and will check off as they are completed. The next window is our "Authorization Log". This log will document all requests, authorizations and the type of therapy requested. A "chart audit" window is utilized to document all communication regarding our patients after the referral has been authorized. This ensures we have a complete history of their physical therapy visits to provide physician and adjuster. Should a patient receive a referral for an FCE we can also accommodate, track and provide follow up using our "FCE Report".
Furthermore our services do not stop here. RCS also offers additional value added services to our clients. We provide assistance with employer schools, light duty job descriptions, ergonomics and safety.
RCS utilizes licensed physical therapists, many of which have their master's or doctorate degrees as well as carry additional certifications; OCS, CHT, ATC, and CSCS. We are comprised of 100% therapist owned and operated clinics. We do not contract with physicians, attorneys or durable medical equipment companies. Moreover, we do not assist physicians to set up practices where our clinics can be conveniently located for their use.
